President Donald J. Trump is coming to the St. Louis area this week — with a visit to St. Charles scheduled for Wednesday.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Trump will be pushing for passage of the tax reform plan currently being debated in D.C. The location and details about the appearance have yet to be released. (And rest assured, once we have them, we'll share them here.)
The visit will be Trump's first to the area since his election one year ago, although he visited Springfield in August. That appearance, which was also to talk tax policy, was mostly memorable for the local hoosier who wrote "Trump" on his glass eye in commemoration of the visit.
During the campaign, Trump's one official stop was marked by a huge protester presence. At one point, demonstrators managed to shut down his speech at the Peabody Opera House for a full ten minutes. "Missouri, I can't believe this," the candidate said at one point.
Later, Trump flew into town for a much more low-profile appearance at the funeral of conservative titan Phyllis Schlafly in the Central West End and also came here for a presidential debate at Wash U.
