Brawl Between Brother and Sister Ends with 1-Year-Old Baby Stabbed

East St. Louis Police were called to the Samuel Gompers Homes (450 North Sixth Street, East St. Louis) just after noon when a sibling fight got way out of hand. According to the police, a 20-year-old man was visiting his mother at Gompers. For reasons not yet known, his juvenile sister attacked him with a box cutter, slashing his throat. He was holding his 1-year-old child at the time of the assault, and his sister -- perhaps inadvertently, perhaps not -- also sliced the infant's left wrist and hand during the attack.

Yikes.

A 41-year-old neighbor was also stabbed in the arm when he tried to break up the fight.

The current conditions of the three victims have not been released. The assailant is being held at the St. Clair County Juvenile Detention Center. Police have recovered the weapon.
