Keeping on the
debate beat for a moment,
Daily RFT got confirmation yesterday that St. Louis County Executive
Charlie Dooley and Republican challenger
Bill Corrigan have confirmed a face-off on October 14.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. at the Brentwood School District Administrative/Early Childhood Center at 1201 Hanley Industrial Court. The room fits about 200 people.
Early yesterday afternoon, Dooley's camp
sent out a tweet saying the debate was on for October 14. Reached for comment, Corrigan's campaign told
Daily RFT that they had never confirmed that date. Hours later Corrigan spokesperson Susan Ryan followed up with us saying that October 14 would indeed work and the debate was now officially on. Ryan adds that the meeting is more of a "forum" hosted by a moderator and not the mano y mano type of debate (four of them) that her candidate had wanted.
Dooley's camp, meanwhile, took pleasure in a
Suburban Journal article this week on Corrigan in which it lists his residence as Ballwin when in fact he lives in Ladue. (Corrigan's
campaign bio says he lives in "St. Louis County.") Ryan asserts that the newspaper reporter got it wrong; Corrigan does live in Ladue and is not ashamed of it. Dooley, btw, hails from Northwoods.
