The Assistant Art Director will assist and support the Art Director in producing sophisticated and vibrant content for the print and online versions of the paper and, under the supervision of the art director, will design supplements and related collateral. Successful applicants will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to juggle several projects on deadline and a firm command of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark Xpress, as well as page layout and editorial design experience. Tough Love

Slap that dude! Slap that dude Christian Schaeffer! He is doing nothing to help the music community of St. Louis. Everything I've read from him comes across as not good enough. Send him to some other town so he can help destroy their music scene. What are his credentials? He can write a good sentence or has a degree? Just read any three pieces of his work; it's negative!

The RFT, in my mind, is there to uplift and promote St. Louis as a whole. Schaeffer should be our advocate, not or enemy. His reviews in "Homespun" are well-written but do no good for the artists or the community. This guy does not fit. Seriously, transfer him to a political column in the Wall Street Journal so I will never have to read something from him again.

I think I am speaking for the musicians of St. Louis: We do not need any more haters or critics! The St. Louis music and club scene needs its fans and patrons, and "Homespun" should support local music.

Shout Out

Listen and ye shall hear: I was informed of Randall Roberts' May 1 blog post, "R.I.P. Dr. Jockenstein," by KDHX (88.1 FM) executive director Beverly Hacker, and I must say that it was a very interesting life-piece that happened to so many people the same way!

On the B-side of things, I truly thank Roberts for the positive comments about our KDHX show The Remedy. It's funny — all he said was how it was. (Were you the fly on the wall?) His description of the Scene of the Crime (the show that airs after ours — no pun intended) was superb.

Thank you for listening and being attentive to KDHX and The Remedy as we try to educate with hip-hop.

Release Me

Quirky and creative — that's us: A thank you from the St. Louis County Library to Paul Friswold and Alison Sieloff. They do great stuff with our news releases. I am a regular reader of RFT, so I see it all: the yoga classes, Paula Deen and now Walter Isaacson. In fact, I've been with the library a little over a year now, and you've been supportive of many of our programs the entire time.

I wish I could write the news releases in the same entertaining style as your "Night & Day" section. The writing is quirky and creative — I can't wait to read the treatment they give each item.
