Monday was the deadline to submit bids with the St. Louis Development Corporation for a new downtown casino to replace the President, which is
closing this summer.
As the
St. Louis Business Journal reports, three companies have thrown their name in the hat. They include
Isle of Capri,
Koman Properties and a little-known firm called
Blue Sky Development.
Isle of Capri, a gaming company headquartered in Creve Coeur, already operates Missouri casinos in Booneville, Caruthersville and Kansas City. Blue Sky Development doesn't even have website, and Koman Properties owns the Casino Queen.
So, how 'bout it?
Should Koman win, how about naming its new riverboat the Casino King?
The Missouri Gaming Commission is to announce this year who will win the states last remaining casino license. Other areas -- including north St. Louis County and Kansas City -- are also trying to lure a casino.
