Around 4 a.m. yesterday morning, Damario Moore pulled into Crown Food Mart on State Street in East St. Louis and parked his car at a gas pump. The 28-year-old Belleville native was walking into the convenience store when he exchanged words with a group of men standing outside the entrance. The men pulled out pistols and started shooting.

Moore was hit once and rushed to Kenneth Hall Regional Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports that East St. Louis police had to call for backup at the hospital, "to address the crowd," of friends and relatives who had gathered to mourn Moore's death.
