David Freese is having a tough time taking it all in. On Friday he was named World Series MVP after the miracle Cardinals won their 11th championship. Yesterday, tens of thousands of well-wishers showed up in downtown St. Louis for the victory parade. At least a half-dozen women held up signs asking for
his hand in marriage. (The 28-year-old bachelor rode in the parade with his mom and dad.)
And, tonight, Freese officially makes the big time with an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The other guest on today's program? Some kid named Justin Bieber.
In Friday's post-game interview, the 28-year-old who grew up in west St. Louis County told reporters that it will take him a while to digest what just happened -- how a hometown kid (who at one time quit playing baseball) could fulfill his fantasies of winning the World Series for his favorite ball club.
Now, if that doesn't make for good talk-show fodder, what does?
