A St. Louis man has been charged in the killings of an Olivette couple who were discovered dead in their car after a four-day search.

Igor Zhukov, 47, and Michele Laws, 43, met up with 22-year-old Deonta Johnson on November 29 in what prosecutors say was a prearranged deal involving cell phones. Instead, Johnson tried to rob the couple and ended up shooting them both in their heads, according to court documents.

Relatives reported the couple missing, and police put out a description of their 2010 Nissan Sentra. The car was discovered on December 3 at the bottom of a secluded ravine in Riverview, near north Riverfront Park. Zhukov's and Laws' bodies were inside. Investigators also found four shell casings inside the Sentra, court documents say.

They had two daughters, and supporters started a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs and living expenses.

Johnson has admitted to trying to rob the couple and killing them, according to the probable cause statement. He is facing eight felonies, including two counts each of first-degree murder and robbery.

He was held without bond.
