The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office has charged Derrick Banks with first-degree murder in the October killing of Demetrius Clark.

Clark, of the 3200 block of Chippewa, was discovered shot to death on a back porch in the 3800 block of Ashland in north St. Louis on October 20.

Banks, 19, lives in the 4800 block of Sacramento, about two blocks away from the murder scene. Court records indicate that this is not the teen's first brush with the law.

Banks was serving probation when he allegedly killed Clark after being charged in early 2010 with burglary, unlawful use of a gun, resisting arrest, tampering with property and possession of marijuana and another controlled substance. In May of this year he received a suspended sentence on all those counts.

He's currently being held on $500,000 cash-only bond.
