The second Missouri child kidnapped in the past week by a registered sex offender was found unharmed early this morning in New Mexico.
Five-year-old
Devon Denman was taken from his father by gunpoint Saturday at the Lake of the Ozarks. Just after midnight this morning police near Gallup, New Mexico, attempted to stop a car driven by Devon's mother
Elizabeth Denman and her boyfriend
Mark Cochran. The vehicle sped off -- reaching speeds of over 100 miles an hour -- before police used stop sticks to blow out the tires.
As
KSDK reports, Denman and Cochran fled the vehicle after firing
shots at police. They're currently on the run as police search a
200-square-mile patch of the New Mexico high desert. Devon was found in the
backseat of the vehicle. Elizabeth Denman, 41, is a convicted felon. Her
40-year-old boyfriend a registered sex offender.
Devon's father
was awarded custody of the boy last week. The kidnapping comes just
days after authorities in Fenton discovered
4-year-old
Alisa Meier unharmed a day after she was taken from her
front yard by registered sex offender
Paul Smith who
later killed himself.
