David Cole, Chairman of the Missouri GOP, will run the new caucus.
Following the
St. Patrick's Day cock-up caucus in St. Charles, the Missouri Republican Party has officially scheduled a second St. Charles County caucus that it intends to see all the way through to the end. Tuesday, April 10, is the new date, and it will take place at 7 p.m. at the St. Charles County Convention Center.
There will be a few key changes made to the procedure, however.
David Cole, chairman of the Missouri Republican Party, will serve as temporary chair this go round, and he's promising "a fair, honest and transparent manner" at the proceedings. That will be in stark contrast to the last one, which broke down in a screaming match with some vocal supporters of Ron Paul, and then ended in two arrests and nothing much accomplished other than embarrassment for all involved.
It was the appointment of a caucus chairman without putting it to a vote that set off last Saturday's brouhaha, so hopefully everybody is comfortable with Cole running the show. If not, I'm sure we'll hear about it soon enough -- recording devices are permitted at this new caucus.
