Wednesday I wrote about the strange case of Mizzou freshman guard Miguel Paul and his supposed relationship to Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets.
Miguel has claimed that he and Chris are cousins and that his older relative (and NBA All-Star) visited him a few years back after a high-school basketball game. He left his younger cousin with the inspirational pearl: Play with your head and just have fun.
In a story in the Kansas City Star MU reps say they talked to Paul's parents, who told them that they were invited to a Paul Family Reunion one time by James Paul, Chris Paul's uncle.
As to Miguel's story of meeting Chris Paul after a basketball game? Apparently it was an embellishment of few equals. (Fitting, perhaps, that the Mizzou media guide lists Miguel's favorite song as MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This.")
Says MU coach Mike Anderson: "Miguel's situation. He's a part of that (Paul) family. Maybe not as big a part as he thought he was."
