Facebook Reveals Student May Have Planned Attack at Parkway Central High

Police in Chesterfield took an unnamed 15-year-old male into custody last week after a classmate alerted Parkway Central High School authorities to threatening messages left on his Facebook profile.

Cathy Kelly, a spokeswoman for the Parkway school district tells Daily RFT that the online profile did not indicate a specific threat against an individual or the school but was generally violent and disturbing -- so much so that it got the attention of the police, who found more incriminating evidence upon further investigation.

Police Lieutenant Steven Lewis tells Daily RFT that the student is "not in the community" and will be referred to family court where it seems likely that he will be charged. The boy's name is being withheld, as he is a juvenile.

Kelly said that the student began missing school in spring last year, though it is unconfirmed whether he was ill, in an alternative program, or simply truant.

Yesterday principal Tim Gannon released a letter to staff and parents thanking the police department for their swift action. School is scheduled to start as scheduled.
