Come as You Are: Be the first in town to see Kurt Cobain About a Son, a film about the late grunge icon stripped of sensationalized sound bytes or news clips. Told in Cobain's own words, the entirety of the film comes from more than 25 hours of unreleased interviews with journalist Michael Azerrad. The RFT's Annie Zaleski sat down with local boy AJ Schnack, the film's director, in September; read the interview here. Petal Power: After the film, drop by the blooming opening reception for Donald Baechler's exhibition No Need to Shout: Flower Paintings. During the past four years, the New York-based artist created elegant flower paintings made of acrylic and fabric collage on canvas. Life is a Cabaret: Ragged Blade's Uptown Cabaret offers up a "spicy variety show" at the Theatre at St. John's (5000 Washington Place; 314-276-8693). This hodgepodge show will broach the topics of bagel making, insanity and politics with singing and dancing thrown in along the way. To become an audience member, pay $12 to $15 and be in your seat by 8 p.m. tonight or tomorrow.

C'mon Ride the Train: Even though they were phased out in the '80s, the symbolic train's rear end still has a place in the hearts of many. Come celebrate this adulation at Caboose Day in Caboose Park (222 South Florissant, Ferguson). Tour old cabooses, explore a 1958 Trailways Bus and then pop over to the the Whistle Stop custard stand for a Cherry Caboose Sundae from 1 to 4 p.m. The first 200 children get a free railroad-themed coloring book. The N-word: Local author Zekita Tucker should send her new children's book to both Duane "Dog" Chapman or Michael Richards. Why? It's entitled Don't Call Me Nigga and teaches kids (and some adults) about the negative connotation surrounding the infamous n-word. She'll be on had to discuss and sign copies of the book at the Vaughn Cultural Center inside the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis (3701 Grandel Square; 314-615-3624). Admission is free, but seating is limited.
Girls! Best Friend: Check out the quirky and cute works of local artist Cate Anevski from 6 to 10 p.m. The free opening reception at Cranky Yellow (2122 Cherokee Street; 314-773-4499) highlights 17 of Anevski's digital illustrations, which depict the surreal adventure of a group of girls. The exhibition runs through November.
Follow the Curd: Tonight the most deliciously addicting food in the universe will unite cheese enthusiasts across the city. Cheesefest, held at the 555 Building (555 Washington Avenue), will be filled with, well, cheese -- from cheese sampling to a "Just Say Cheese" photo booth. The main attraction will be the mice races, where attendees can purchase "mouse money" and place bets on the little guys. After the races, use your winnings to bid on prizes. Masterpieces for Miles Even though you might wind up spending more cash on gas then on a breathtaking watercolor, 50 Miles of Art provides a road map for art collectors hankering to explore Missouri. Downright Dirty: Hear the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band perform "Mr. Bojangles" and help raise money for Sheldon educational programs. Beer Can Can: Haven't seen enough beer paraphernalia this weekend?
