Friday, 11/9
Never Stop Caring: Do good and eat well by attending A Night at the Moulin, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m. At 2017 Chouteau, an array of gourmet eats from Vin de Set, wine from Crown Valley and Mary Michelle Wineries, beer from Ray Hill Brewing and bags filled with goodies from Lush and St. Louis Magazine go out to the first 100 guests. So, get there early, and chill out on Vin de Set's rooftop later (RFT's pick for Best Outdoor Drinking '07). Tickets are $35 at the door, and money raised goes to the nonprofit organization Caring for Kids. For more information, call 314-726-5437.
Found in Translation: Hear and see unique interpretations of Stefene Russell's poem "Go South for Animal Index" when Poetry Scores releases its 28-track CD and holds a silent auction at 7 p.m. inside Hoffman LaChance Contemporary (3100 Sutton Boulevard, Maplewood; 314-960-5322). Created by 30 artists from across the country, artwork for auction is inspired by Russell's poem, too. It's free to stop by, but it's $15 to take a CD home.
A Lovely Day in the Neighborhood: Ever since InsideSTL.com localized Maxim's Hometown Hotties and began posting nearly nude ladies from south to north county online, it aroused a small following. Celebrate the crowning of October's Girl Next Door at Jim Edmonds' restaurant/ultra-chic watering hole F15teen (1900 Locust Avenue; 314-588-8899) at 10:30 p.m.
Saturday, 11/10
Walk It Out: Take advantage of the cool weather (before subzero temps leave you homebound) by arriving at downtown's Riverfront Bike Path (1025 Park Avenue) for a 5K walk/run. Race For Home helps the Peter and Paul Community Services, a group who finds shelter and assistance for those in need. Register at 8 a.m. for $20 ($15 to preregister; free for children under ten), be ready to sprint an hour later and cross the line first to be awarded 50 big ones.
Need a Fix?: Another organization aiding low-income shelter seekers, Rebuilding Together-St. Louis, hosts Art Fix, a silent auction from 7 to 11 p.m. at FK Photo Studio (2754 Locust; 314-241-3811). A $35 ticket allows you to indulge at an open bar and on hors d'oeuvres from top-notch local restaurants. Somewhat glamorous auction items include Coach bags, photography sessions, jewelry, concert and sports memorabilia -- even a condo in Puerto Vallarta. For tickets, call 314-918-9918, extension 21.
Reel Fun: It's day three of the St. Louis International Film Festival -- that means there's eight days of intelligent cinema to go! Today eighteen films will be shown at various locations from 11 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. Glimpse at the RFT's picks, or decide for yourself.
Sunday, 11/11
Toys will be Toys: Can't wait for Santa? Cruise to Two Hearts Banquet Center (4532 South Lindbergh; 314-843-8858) for The St. Louis Antique & Vintage Toy Show. Cradle your favorite robots, lunch boxes, airplanes and more of yesteryear in early-bird fashion at 7:30 a.m. for $10, or sleep in and pay only $3 at 9 a.m. For more information, call 314-503-5869.
Tats on Parade: In the hardcore world of ink-fueled skin-etching, there was a time before tramp stamps and tribal tats. Remember that time at the St. Louis Old School Tattoo Expo. Catch it today from noon to 8 p.m. at the City Museum (701 North 15th Street; 314-231-2489). Paul Friswold rolls up his sleeves to show you more info here.
Coats of Honor: Excise your inner pack rat by donating your worn out but not tattered coats, shoes and boots at Macy's through November 12. You'll be rewarded for this exceptional deed with a coupon for 20 percent off a new woman's coat, shoes or boots. That's sort of an even trade (unless you're a dude). Your former duds will be sold at the local Goodwills.
