Happiest Hours: The best hours of your week are those just after you get off work on Friday night. Two local spots honor your accomplishments over the past five days with generous happy hours. First, head to Erato Wine Bar (3117 South Grand Boulevard; 314-664-6400), where wines by the glass are $5 (other drink specials are offered, too), and select food items are half-off from 4 to 7 p.m. Then, get thee to Terrene (33 North Sarah Street; 314-535-5100) for a later-night celebration (10 p.m. to midnight), complete with drink specials for the bar crowd.
Closer Than the Himalayas: Broaden your culinary horizons with a Nepalese meal at Everest Café.
Pass the Mic: St. Charles Community College brews some literary energy out in the county from 7 to 9 p.m. with “The Coffeehouse” open-mic night. The free sharing session happens on campus in the Social Sciences Building (4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, Cottleville; 636-922-8407), and you have five to seven minutes to read original poetry and/or short prose.
Saturday, 4/14
Pow Wow Wow: The American Indian Awareness Week Pow Wow at the field house on the campus of Washington University (Forsyth and Skinker boulevards) honors women with drumming, dancing, arts, food and crafts. The dancing goes down at 1 and 6 p.m., and you can peruse the arts from 10 a.m. on. Admission is free.
Get Way Out: The inaugural Crunchy Cool Punk Show begins at 9 p.m. at the Way Out Club (2525 South Jefferson Avenue; 314-664-7638) and features the Vultures, Johnny Saint and the Princes of Hell, and the Del Reefers. The cover is $7, and proceeds benefit Crunchy Cool Films’ next work, The Bloodfest Club.
Mmmusical: It’s the deep-dish special of musicals – Chicago – at St. Louis’ only deep-dish theater. You’ll be full for a week after this!
Kill Your Closet: At 10 p.m. at this year’s Venus Envy (held at 3001 and 3016 Locust Boulevard; 314-865-0181), witness an anti-fashion show from the Kill Fashion Collective, complete with “indie” ensembles, goddesses, live music and more. Admission to Venus Envy costs $5 to $10, and it runs from 7 p.m. to midnight.

St. Louis Idol: Opera Theatre of Saint Louis hosts its Artists-in-Training Spring Recital at 3 p.m. at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ (826 Union Boulevard). During this free concert, 21 regional high school students compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships. Who will walk away with the $4,000 Monsanto Prize? Go to know.
Everybody loves a little TNA: The TNA in TNA Wrestling stands for Total Nonstop Action, and if that sounds familiar, it’s because World Series MVP David Eckstein fought in a TNA pay-per-view event during the off-season. This weekend, the action comes to the Family Arena. You’ll go because you’re hoping Eckstein shows up and delivers an MVP Beatdown to somebody twice his size; we’re going because we’re hoping Shark Boy shows up and eats Eckstein.
