Friday
At 11 p.m. tonight, the City Museum turns off all the lights, hands you a flashlight and says go have fun. And yes, you can bring your own flashlight. It's $10 and the museum closes at 1 a.m. Paul Friswold has the details here.

Friday
The Webster University Film Series screens Call Me Troy, the documentary about Troy Perry, a trailblazing reverend and a pioneer for the rights of the gay, lesbian and transgender community. The first-person documentary screens at 7 p.m. and admission is $5-$6. More information here.

Friday
Local hard-rockers Gold Tooth play the Firebird. As Christian Schaeffer writes, Gold Tooth "is a mix of bong-rattling stoner-rock riffs, throat-scraping growls and more than a few nods to '70s classic rock and '80s heavy metal." More info on the show in the RFT Calendar.

Friday
If you're in the mood for some insult comedy -- to prep for hurling verbal assaults at the drunks during tomorrow's Mardi Gras, perhaps -- you're in luck because big, blonde bad-ass Lisa Lampanelli is going to do her act at the Pageant tonight. Read an interview with her and find out about the show here.

Saturday
There's Mardi Gras in Soulard, and then there's the Fasching Ball -- far from the thousands in Soulard -- a few miles down the road in Herman, Missouri. The Fasching Ball runs from 6 to 10 p.m.; tickets are $28 and may be purchased in advance. For details, call 573-486-3276.

Saturday
The Arch Rival Roller Girls are fresh off filming a music video with indie stars The Breeders, and tonight they start the 2009 season. They roll out at 7 p.m. at the All American Sports Mall in south St. Louis County. Most pay $10 admission, kids younger than ten get in free. More info here.

Saturday
Naughti Gras 5, an after-party to the big Mardi Gras party, is a techno-heavy dance-a-thon at Dante's Nightclub (3221 Olive Boulevard.) The doors open around 9 p.m. and the party goes until 1 a.m. Tickets range between $5 and $10, and it's open to ages 21 and older. Here's a flier for the party.

Saturday
Swap-A-Rama-Rama, a free community clothing-recycling project, is awesome. You bring a bag of *clean* clothing to the Missouri History Museum (Lindell Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue) today and then sift through the clothes brought by other people just like you. Find out more about this cool trading event here.

Sunday
Saxophonist Ravi Coltrane performs at 7:30 p.m. at the Sheldon Concert Hall. Tickets are $40. More information on this show is here.

Sunday
What's a Holga? It's a camera. More precisely, the Holga is a "cheap and funky Hong Kong camera [that] is low-fi photography at its nuttiest - charmingly inconsistent Holga results include lens distortion (what do you want from plastic?), light leakage and a dream-like focus," writes Paul Friswold. What's a Holga Polka Invitational? Find out here.
