1. Paint by Numbers. Mad Art Gallery (2727 South 12th Street, 314-771-8230) is hosting its second paint-by-number party at 7 p.m. on Friday with music, provisions and classic blank canvases waiting to be covered in colors. You can also watch how-to demonstrations for floral designs, knife skills and printmaking. All paintings will be available for silent auction. $10 for adults, $5 for kids and all proceeds benefit the St. Louis City Open Studio and Gallery.
2. Molly Darcys' grand opening is at 7 p.m. on Friday at Seven Gables Inn (26 South Meramec, 314- 863-8400). This restaurant-and-bar's first home was in Killarney, Ireland so it's pretty much the real deal when it comes to Irish pubs. Expect plenty of Guinness, Celtic tunes and possibly, some lower limbs flailing about.
3. Somewhere in the Universe, there must be something better than man! The Webster University Film Series presents Planet of the Apes! Presented in new 35 mm scope print Friday at 8 p.m. in the Moore Auditorium (470 East Lockwood, 314-967-487) Last-minute changes may occur, so try calling ahead of time. $6 to general public. $5 for seniors and students from other schools.
4. Marvin Dixon will be at House of Comedy Friday (801 North Second Street, 314-241-5233) at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. He's performed for HBO's Def Comedy Jam, BET's Comic View and enjoys a good wheelchair dance from time to time. Tickets are $20 including open bar.
5. Artica is Saturday (noon to midnight) and Sunday (noon to dusk). This free event at the foot of the Arch will be filled with art instillations, music, dance, theater, poetry, video, film and performance art...and...everyone is invited to come in costume. 6. Go back in time to the American Civil War and experience soldiers of the 8th Missouri Infantry serving under General Grant and General William Sherman. Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Grant's Farm (10501 Gravois @ Grant Road, 314-843-1700) you can witness living history demonstrations, military drills and musket firings. $10 per car to park.
7. Tap your foot to the soulful stylings of Miss Jubilee and the Humdingersfrom 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at Blues City Deli (2438 McNair Avenue, 314-773-8225). Naturally, tasty sandwiches will be served at the Benton Park establishment.
8. That Uppity Theatre Company is celebrating "coming out" stories by inviting the audience to share their tales while improv actors help turn them into theater at the Missouri History Museum. These free performances are Saturday (at 8 p.m.) and Sunday (at 3 p.m.). Call 314-995-4600 for more information.
9. Kemp Auto Museum (16955 Chesterfield Airport Road, 636.537.1718) is celebrating 60 years of Porsche from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Food, beverages, and music will provided as you stroll past shiny little speedsters, listening for the one that whispers "drive me...."
10. Sci Fest '08 isn't solely for academics, but the general public, as scientific theories from the celestial to the pedestrian are put to the test at the Saint Louis Science Center. The Fest runs morning until night today through Sunday. For more information, check out the Sci Fest schedule.
