It's going to be a "berry" cold week, STL.

Get your layers on, St. Louis, because we're in for a week of bitter cold.

Forecasters say temperatures will plummet Tuesday from a sunny 24 degrees during the day to a blustery 8 degrees at night.

Wednesday's the day you'll really have to bundle up. Gusts as high as 30 miles per hour will keep temperatures in the single digits, with an expected high temperature of 9 degrees falling to around 5 degrees by 4 p.m. and dipping below 0 degrees at night, according to the National Weather Service. That's a full 30 degrees colder than St. Louis' normal temperatures for this time of year.

The real kicker on Wednesday will be the wind chill, which will be so cold that the National Weather Service is warning that exposure for more than 30 minutes could cause frostbite on unprotected skin. Forecasters say Wednesday's wind chill will feel as low as 20 degrees below 0 as the temperature hovers around 0.

The National Weather Service's wind chill advisory runs from 6 a.m. Wednesday to 9 a.m. Thursday.

Temps won't climb back above freezing until Sunday. Forecasters predict a high of 26 and a low of 17 on Thursday, a high near 20 and a low at 8 Friday, and a high of 27 with a low of 22 degrees on Saturday.

Snow is mentioned as a slight possibility in the forecast, starting with a 20 percent chance of snow Tuesday night after midnight. The region should stay dry during the midweek wind chill, but predictions say there's a 20 percent chance of snow on Saturday and Sunday.

Stay warm out there, STL!
