FBI agents arrested Fairview Heights man Jeremiah Merello McGee in connection with the firebomb attack on the Robert A. Young Federal Building early Monday morning. According to the affidavit, McGee parked near the guard shack at the building at 1:11 a.m. April 23, approached the building, then turned back to his car and removed an object. He then lit the object and chucked it at the building, creating an explosion and a brief flash of fire.

If you're going to allegedly throw a firebomb at a federal building, it's not wise to park on the same side of the building as the occupied guard shack.

McGee is charged with attempted destruction of United States property by fire or explosion. If convicted, he faces a sentence of 5 to 20 years and as much as $250,000 in fines.
