A man suspected of groping multiple women this summer in Tower Grove South is back in custody.
John Wells, 30, was picked up on a warrant on Wednesday in south county, more than a month after city prosecutors dropped charges and turned him loose.
Wells, who is listed as homeless in court documents, is facing two felony counts of sodomy, as well as misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor sexual abuse.
He was originally arrested in late June after multiple women reported being sexually assaulted between May 25 and June 21. The victims told investigators their attacker ambushed them and touched their genitals, either by groping them through their clothing or shoving his hand into their pants.
Court records show charges related to attacks on four women.
Susan Ryan, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Circuit Attorney, says prosecutors dropped charges in October as a result of a "technical issue" she could not disclose, but that prosecutors immediately began working to reinstate charges.
"The good news is he is back in custody," Ryan says.
He is facing the same charges as before. A judge on Friday set his bond at $50,000. He is being held at a city jail.
