St. Louis police have identified the woman found beaten to death this morning inside a residence in the 5600 block of Maffitt (below).

Joy McCully: St. Louis Homicide No. 8; Found Beaten to Death Near Gunshot Victim

Police got a call to the north St. Louis neighborhood around 4:12 a.m. this morning and found Joy McCully, 38, dead of trauma to the head. A second victim, described as a 29-year-old black male, was also at the scene having been shot multiple times. At last report, he remained in critical condition at an area hospital.

Police have yet to release any additional information on the incident.
