Based on new grand jury indictments in Madison county, it appears that two men have abused their power by soliciting sex from women in exchange for their services.
The Madison County State's Attorney says that Jeremy Elliott, a 32-year-old Wood River police officer, offered to assist a 29-year-old woman in an investigation -- but not before she returned the favor with a "sexual act."
Elliott, prosecutors say, is suspended without pay and faces a penalty range of probation up to two to five years in prison. He is facing one count of official misconduct, which is a felony charge. The Madison County Sheriff's Department conducted the investigation into the solicitation of the Wood River woman.
He's not the only one who apparently tried to take advantage of his professional services.

A grand jury yesterday also indicted Bradford Hunt, a 56-year-old Alton attorney, on two misdemeanor charges of soliciting a sexual act.
Prosecutors say he offered to provide legal services in exchange for sex acts from two Madison county women earlier this year. Hunt, police say, is also facing cannabis-related felony charges out of Alton from earlier this year.
If convicted of the misdemeanors related to the solicitation, he faces penalties ranging from fines and probation up to one year in jail. His bond was set at $10,000. He was not yet in custody at the time of the indictment yesterday.
When the County State's Attorney announced the indictments yesterday, officials said that Elliott was expected to turn himself in to the Madison County Jail in Edwardsville. His bond was set at $50,000.
