Maplewood Man Murdered Over Rims; Carjacked Vehicle Found with No Tires

It appears that Martin "Marty" Lampe was murdered over a set of 22-inch rims.

Yesterday police discovered in north St. Louis the 2002 Chevy Impala that Lampe, 23, was sitting in early Wednesday morning in Sauget. As reported earlier this week, a carjacker jumped into the vehicle, pumped two bullets into Lampe, tossed him out the door and sped away.

The vehicle was discovered in the 800 block of Gustav yesterday. The Belleville News-Democrat reports that the car had been stripped of its 22-inch rim tires.

The Major Case squad is still looking for Lampe's killer. Anyone with information, can leave an anonymous tip with CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.

Meanwhile, a funeral will be held Saturday for Lampe at Immaculate Conception Church in Maplewood. On Sunday, Michael's restaurant in Maplewood -- where Lampe worked for five years -- will donate a portion of its sales to help pay for his funeral.
