North City Men Shot in Face, Killed, in Unrelated Incidents Hours Apart (Homicides No. 96 & 97)

Two north-city men died after being shot in the face in unrelated incidents Tuesday, according to police.

Tom A. Jones, Jr., a 36-year-old black man, was found in a running car in the 1500 block of Cass Avenue. He had gunshot wounds in his face, the side of his head, shoulder, chest and side. He was pronounced dead on the scene Tuesday morning.

Jermell Jackson, a 29-year-old black man from the Pagedale neighborhood, was shot and killed at a residence in the 5900 block of Wabada Avenue. Jackson had gunshot wounds in the side and front of his head.

Suspects in both cases are unknown, and St. Louis Metropolitan Police are investigating.

Jones and Jackson are the 96th and 97th homicides in the city of St. Louis this year. In 2012 at this time, the city had 101 homicides on record, according to police.

Location: 1500 block of Cass

Date/Time: 11/12/13 @ 07:22

Victim: Tom A. Jones Jr. , a 36-year old black male of the 5800 block of Ferris

Suspect(s): Unknown

Officers responded to a call for an unconscious male located inside a running vehicle at the above location. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, who suffered gunshot wounds to the side of his head, face, shoulder, chest and side. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Incident: Homicide

Location: 5900 block of Wabada

Date/Time: 11/12/13 @ 12:37 p.m.

Victim: Jermell Jackson, 29-year old black male of the 1800 block of Engelholm

Suspect: Unknown

The victim was located by officers responding to a call for a "shooting." Officers discovered the victim laying on the east side of the residence at this location. The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the side and front of his head. He was pronounced deceased on the scene. The victim's identity is being withheld until next of kin is located and notified of his death. The investigation is ongoing.
