The misleading ads, Goodman argues, are unfair to other local institutions that offer equivalent courses without these inferior and harmful practices.
"The case is quite cut and dry," he adds. "Their statements...have no evidence to support them."
The hospital and school say in their materials that students gain valuable experience by working with both mannequins and live cats -- which PETA is alleging is not based on fact.
Meanwhile, PETA's USDA complaint is still under consideration. While that's pending, Goodman argues, Wash. U. continues to "lie to the public" and notes that it has another course that will use live cats scheduled for the end of the month.
A spokeswoman from Wash. U. did not respond to our request for comment yesterday, though you can read their full response to us last month here. St. Louis Children's Hospital and the attorney general's office also did not respond to requests for comment yesterday. We'll update if we hear back.
