Fact: You can purchase an official pair of Cardinals thong underwear at the team store at Busch Stadium. We know this because a friend of ours (with questionable taste) recently bought a pair for a female acquaintance as a wedding gift.

All of which begs the question: Given that the Cardinals will place their trademark on anything, how is it possible that the team does not sell the following in soccer-mad St. Louis?

Behold the unofficial Cardinals soccer uniform!

The unis are the brainchild of Mark Willis, a Harvard employee in Boston who writes about soccer, music and design on his website Last month, Willis re-imagined the uniforms of the American League East as soccer jerseys and followed it up this month with the uniforms of the National League Central.

Willis writes that the blue stripe running down the center of the Cardinals jersey is a nod to the Mississippi River, with the red lines on either side representing Missouri and Illinois. The stars to the right of the "STL" crest signify the Cardinals eleven World Series wins, with the silver stars representing five championships and the bronze star representing the most recent victory in 2011. And like the football clubs of Europe, all of Willis' baseball-turned-soccer uniforms include a prominent corporate logo. In the case of St. Louis, Willis says the sponsorship was a no-brainer:

Below the crest, also floating above the blue strip, is the only possible corporate sponsor for a St. Louis club, Anheuser-Busch. I've chosen the company's flagship Budweiser brand and represented it with the recently-created "crowned B" logo, which works perfectly with the general spirit of the uniform.
So what do you think of the jerseys? Pretty rad? Or are you still trying to wrap your ass around those Cardinals panties for sale at the team store?
