Police are now investigating the murder of former SLU volleyball player Megan Boken as an attempted robbery. They have no evidence that Boken knew her killer, and that it now appears that nothing was stolen from her person or her car.

Boken was shot while sitting in her car near the intersection of Maryland and Taylor avenues in the Central West End at 2:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon. She was reportedly on her way to play in an alumni volleyball game at SLU when she was killed.

Police will be holding a press conference to announce a reward for information leading to the arrest of the man responsible for her death. He's described as a black man with a medium complexion, 5'8'' to 5'10'', with a thin build and short hair. He was wearing a gray charcoal shirt, khaki pants and white tennis shoes.

Saint Louis University issued a statement on her death.
"We are shocked and saddened by this terrible and tragic loss. Megan was a truly outstanding student-athlete who excelled in the classroom and on the court. She exemplified the very best of what it means to be a Saint Louis University Billiken. Our focus right now is on providing as much support as we can for our students, and our thoughts and prayers are with Megan's family and friends during this very difficult time."
