A seventeen-year-old beat his brother over the head with a hammer until he died during a fight, according to St. Louis County Police.

Keandre Washington, of the 3800 block of Melba Place in Northwoods, faces one count of second-degree murder and one count of armed criminal action for killing his brother Bobby Washington, 25.

The murder is the second involving hammer-wielding teens in two weeks. On November 30, a group of teens used hammers to attack and kill Bosnian immigrant Zemir Begic in Bevo Mill. Three suspects have been arrested and charged.

Keandre and Bobby Washington's mother called the Northwoods Police Department early Tuesday morning to report that her sons were involved in a fight. She told police she'd fled their Northwoods home in fear.

Northwoods police requested assistance from the St. Louis County Police Department's crimes against persons detectives, who arrived to find Bobby Washington dead on the second floor of the home with numerous head wounds caused by a hammer.

Police arrested Keandre Washington and recovered the hammer at the scene.

Keandre Washington was charged with murder and armed criminal action Tuesday and is being held on a $200,000 bond.
