Richmond Heights in the fall: Could anything be more pretty?
Ladue has the mansions and Huntleigh has the horse stables — but when it comes the best places to live, Richmond Heights is No. 1.

The St. Louis County suburb again topped Niche's list of the best places to live in Missouri, an unusually substantive look at 355 places around the state analyzed for everything from the quality of their schools to cost of living to diversity.

The 8,466-person community scored an A+ for its public schools, nightlife and being "good for families." It also earned an A for housing and A- for diversity, coming up short only in "crime and safety," where its score dropped to a C.  Still, that was good enough to top Missouri's list — and that's despite some hot competition.

Much of that competition came from its St. Louis County neighbors. St. Louis suburbs actually notched the top seventeen places in the survey. In fact, the only place outside the metro area to score a spot in the top twenty was the Kansas City suburb of Parkville, which placed No. 18.

The list treats city neighborhoods as places. The St. Louis city neighborhood of Hi-Pointe just made the top twenty, scoring No. 19 on the Niche list.

Here are the top 20 places to live in Missouri, as chosen by Niche:
