Robert Hartzell: St. Louis Homicide No. 22; 74-Year-Old Victim Allegedly Fired First Shot

A 74-year-old man is dead and a 50-year-old man critically wounded after a bizarre shooting Friday night in the relatively staid neighborhood of Clifton Heights in south St. Louis.

According to reports, Robert Hartzell, 74, was at his home repair business near Arsenal and Ivanhoe (above) around 6 p.m. Friday when he allegedly got into a dispute with the 50-year-old man and shot him. Hartzell was believed to be leaving the scene moments later when a third man approached him and fired a shot into his head.

Hartzell was declared dead a short time later. The 50-year-old victim remained hospitalized over the weekend. Hartzell's killer is in custody. More information as it becomes available.
