St. Joseph Cop Who Appeared in "Proud White Man"' Rap Video Suspended

A white patrolman with the St. Joseph, Missouri, police department was suspended last week after his bosses discovered he'd made a cameo in a jaw-droppingly stupid rap video with lyrics that might have been copy-pasted from your racist cousin's Facebook timeline.

The officer, Zackary Craft, appears in uniform multiple times in the video for "Before This Bomb Blows Up (Racism Goes Both Ways)" by Josh Smith, a suburban (white) Kansas City rapper who performs under the name J.Smitty. 


In the video, Craft can be seen holding signs that read, "Right is right" and "Wrong is wrong," as well as the requisite "Cops Lives Matter."

At one point, Smitty raps, "Keep your nose clean and obey simple laws, pal, or maybe the police won't be so quick to fucking draw down," as the video cuts to Craft reaching for his service weapon. 

In an interview with the Associated Press, Smith said he took down the video down after learning of Craft's suspension. He re-posted the video today with Craft's face blurred.

St. Joseph, where Craft is an officer, is a town of 77,000 people about an hour's drive north of Kansas City.

Craft's attorney, Morgan Roach, told the AP that Craft consented to appearing in the video "without knowing the words, content, or context" and was "appalled" after he saw the finished product.

Presumably, Craft will only appear in future music videos after vetting them for racist Fred Durst-lookalikes who can't keep a beat.
