The Missouri Coalition for Life Saving Cures is hosting its first-ever "Hope Summit" next weekend in downtown St. Louis.

The summit -- to be held Saturday, Jan. 23 -- is open to the public and will, according to the coalition, "build on Missouri's reputation as a leader in stem cell research and to discuss the potential for cures for our sick and injured loved ones."

Keynote speaker for the event is journalist Chris Mooney, author of the books "Unscientific America: How Scientific Illiteracy Threatens Our Future" and "The Republican War on Science."
