Temperatures are expected to stay in the upper 90s through Friday.
A man found dead at his home just north of downtown St. Louis on Friday passed away as a result of the heat, according to city officials.
The 68-year-old man apparently had air-conditioning but did not turn it on. City officials plan to do door-to-door checks on elderly residents this week as the forecast calls for several more days in the upper 90s. They also encourage you to do the same.
"This is an excellent time to be a
good neighbor," said Mayor Francis Slay in a statement yesterday. "Make sure everyone - especially
children, seniors, and pets - are keeping cool. If you know an
individual who has an air conditioner but you cannot hear it running,
please encourage them to turn it on."
