Lynda Keeton and Jessie Chandler got married in Soulard on Saturday night after fourteen years as a couple. On Monday, the pair made a devastating discovery: Their wedding dresses had been stolen.
As reported by KMOV, Keeton and Chandler loaded up their dresses on Sunday with the intention of taking them to the cleaners. But by Monday the gowns had disappeared from the van, which KSDK says belonged to a friend. It had been parked outside the couple's home on Lemp Avenue and Sidney Street.
The two dresses together cost $2,300, according to KSDK. Keeton says hers was a full-length, Champagne-colored gown with a long train, and Chandler's dress was strapless with lace.
"They passed over a nice empty cooler, a couple of chairs, baseball mitts they could've taken," Keeton said of the thieves. "But apparently they just wanted the wedding dresses."
Keeton told KMOV that she believed she locked the car the morning after the ceremony, but isn't entirely sure in the midst of all the activity.
Ultimately, the couple says the dresses' value is sentimental. They're looking to social media to spread the word and hope that surveillance video from nearby businesses will help catch whomever took the dresses.
