St. Louis Fat Tuesday Not Fat On Arrests

This radar image from yesterday put a damper on Fat Tuesday in St. Louis and New Orleans.

Unlike St. Louis Mardi Gras' Grand Parade on Saturday, last night's Fat Tuesday Parade was a pretty tame affair. How tame?

Approximately 97 percent less fun when comparing yesterday's arrests and citation to those from Saturday.

That's right, whereas St. Louis police and excise officers issued 89 arrests/citations to 83 people Saturday in Soulard, last night's downtown parade netted just two citations -- neither of them from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Excise officers with the city put the clamp down, citing a minor for possession and a vendor for selling to someone under the age of eighteen.

As the St. Louis police department reports today, the half inch of rain we got last night "greatly reduced" the projected number of spectator's at last night's event.
