Randy Combs can now add Jim Carrey to the list of celebrities who've used his 34-foot Dodge Ram limousine.
The fourteen-passenger limo with a hot tub in the bed is slated to appear in at least one scene in the new movie Dumb and Dumber To that arrives in theaters in November. Combs tells Daily RFT that Jim Carrey (Lloyd Christmas) uses the limo to pick up his prom date in the film. We're guessing in some sort of flashback scenario because the movie takes place twenty years after the original Dumb and Dumber, but Combs didn't know for sure. In the scene, Carrey escorts his date to the rear of the truck, rips her dress off and throws her into the hot tub. She has a swimsuit on, though.
During his almost 25 years in the luxury chauffeur business, Combs has escorted the likes of Prince, Jessica Simpson, Sarah McLachlan, the Rally Squirrel, the Cranberries, Larry the Cable Guy and Mickey Thomas of Starship.
Combs got the idea to start a limo service by accident. The then-retired Chrysler worker planned to buy a new jeep, but on the way spotted a personal limousine -- which is just an elongated Cadillac -- and bought that instead.
"It wasn't much of a limo," Combs says. "Black, door dings, 100,000 miles."
He planned to use it as a personal vehicle, but soon people were asking if they could rent it out, and Combs saw a business opportunity.
Eventually he replaced the old Caddy, and his fleet now includes a sixteen-passenger party bus, a Ford Excursion limo and, of course, the 34-foot pickup.
Combs bought the pickup in St. Louis and drove it to California to be made into a limousine, which cost a small fortune with the vehicle averaging ten to eighteen miles per gallon.
"I wanted to have something nobody else had," he says of the pickup-truck limo. "Everything's been built already, so I thought it'd be cool to have a truck. And they're heavy duty. The frame is real sturdy, so it can hold the extra load you're carrying. I had extra suspension put on it."
Plus he wanted to put a hot tub in the bed. Combs admits it's a bit extravagant since he can't drive the truck if the tub is full because the water sloshes out.
"You would have to fill it with hot water and then empty it before you drive anywhere," he says. The tub has six jets and a heater that keeps the temperature hot but won't heat up cold water.
The hot tub-limo runs from $95 to $145 an hour through Combs' A Awesome Limousine Service. And take it from Lloyd Christmas: It makes for a helluva a ride to prom.
