The Big Bloody: In East St. Louis, Three Women Shot at Gas Station, Children in Vehicle

Police have arrested a man suspected of executing a triple-slaying on Saturday night at an East St. Louis Mobil station, reports KMOX.


Police arrested the man on Sunday night in St. Louis for the crime, in which he allegedly confronted three women at the gas station and opened fire after an argument, about 9:30 p.m.

According to KMOX, the man was the father of two children of one of the women, who ranged in age from 24 to 26 years old. Tim O'Neil of the Post-Dispatch reports the three children in the car ranged in age from 1 to 8 years old, and that family members had placed a teddy bear and long-stem roses at pump 6 at the gas station on Sunday.

The three who were pronounced dead at East St. Louis' Kenneth Hall Regional Hospital:

  • Raykel Gathing, 26
  • Tanikia Harvey, 26
  • Jaimaca McDaniel, 24
McDaniel, mother of the two of the children in the car, reportedly shielded her children with her body during the incident.
