If you haven't seen it yet, Fox Sports Midwest recently embarked on a contest asking Cardinals fans to rank their five favorite games of last year. FSM will then cut down the five winners into half-hour segments to run on the station during March.
Of the fifteen games nominated, here's betting that the August 10 game "The Brawl" comes in first place. That's the contest that began with a bench-clearing fight in Cincinnati and ended with the Cardinals beating the Reds 8-4 on their way to sweeping the series and gaining sole possession of first place in the division.
Opening Day in Cincinnati is also sure to get some votes. That's the game in which Albert Pujols homered twice and Yadier Molina hit a grand slam to see the Cardinals beat the Reds 11-6.
But of all the great games nominated from last season, we were disappointed that the April 17-18 contest didn't make the list.
That was the 20-inning game in New York versus the Mets that lasted an astonishing six hours and 53 minutes, featured 19 pitchers and left 35 men on base. No one scored until the eighteenth inning and the Mets eventually clinched the game 2-1.
Yeah, the Cardinals lost, but it was epic nonetheless. Perhaps FSM didn't think they could shrink the game to a half-hour. Or maybe it was one of the games that FSM says is "not available for replay due to TV rights limitations."

Update: FSM informs me that the 20-inning monster is indeed one of the contests they do not have the rights to replay. That said, they're looking into whether they can amend that.
