Driven by a not-so-smart driver?

Not so smart anymore!

So says KDSK (Channel 5), which has gone all out with Smart Car jokes today with the news that two men accidentally drove their vehicle straight into the Mississippi River. Not a smart move, eh?!

We love a good ole wordplay here at Daily RFT, but this is just rather cringe-worthy.

"Two men were rescued by St. Louis firefighters Tuesday morning after they did something not very smart, while driving along a walking path in a Smart Car," the news story says.

Har. Har. Video below.

Here's KSDK's short footage, which shows the Smart Car upside down in the water.

Apparently the two men had to be rescued by St. Louis firefighters today after they drove off of Mullanphy Street and into the river. It appears that at some point they started driving along a path not designated for cars.

The station says that the driver of the car had tried to make a U-turn, but the car ended up sliding and flipping into the river. Actually sounds pretty scary.

They were reportedly able to free themselves from the submerged car, and firefighters helped them up a steep embankment. They were treated at the scene, and it looks like the car was just sitting there upside down for awhile.
