[VIDEO] Breastfeeding Mothers Attempt World Record

Okay. So perhaps it didn't generate as much buzz as that Time cover a few months ago, still August 5 was a big deal for breastfeeding. Women across 23 countries and 626 cities gathered at 10:30 a.m. in their local times zones to "simultaneously" breastfeed their children.

St. Louis' participation in the Big Latch On, part of World Breastfeeding Week (August 1-7), took place in Tower Grove Park -- just outside the farmers' market.

Some 23 St. Louis mothers nursed 25 babies and tots (yes, two of the participants were pulling double duty) to join thousands of mothers elsewhere in setting a Big Latch On record with 8,862 nursing moms.

Sadly, though, that effort failed to break the world record established in 2010 under a similar competition launched in the Philippines that had 9,826 nursing mothers.

But, hey, the kids Saturday thought it was tits, regardless.

Continue on to view a video of Saturday's "Latch On" in Tower Grove Park. The mothers with their hands raised are signifying that their kids are officially "latched on." And an author's note: I wasn't just lurking in Tower Grove Park looking for a snippet of public nudity -- though don't put that past me. My wife was participating.
