Here's your weekly St. Louis bestseller list for the week ending August 5, as compiled by the St. Louis Independent Booksellers Alliance and based on sales at Left Bank Books, Main Street Books, Pudd'nhead Books and Subterranean Books.
At numbers 5 and 6 on this week's local bestseller list are debut novels by two local authors: The Basement Quilt, the first volume in a projected series by Ann M. Hazelwood, a writer and quilter from St. Charles; and I'm No P.I., a mystery that mixes comedy and noir from Alan Zacher, a St. Louisan who recently returned home after years as an actor in L.A. (Writes one Amazon reviewer: "Circumstances have molded him into a man that society would best describe as a loser." We assume this applies to Tom Mayor, Zacher's accidental gumshoe, and not to the author himself.)
