Where to Watch the Champions League Final Today

Posted By on Wed, May 21, 2008 at 11:41 AM

The biggest non-World Cup event in fútbol (soccer, for those of you who don’t habla español) is being played today in Moscow at 1:30 p.m. Central Time.

Didier Drogba

For the first time in Champions League history, it’s an all-English Premier League affair, pitting Manchester United and their flopping Portuguese pretty boy Cristiano Ronaldo against Chelsea and their flopping Ivory Coast-born pretty boy Didier Drogba. Fortunately for Americans, ESPN 2 is broadcasting the game, but where to watch to get the proper atmosphere in soccer-mad St. Louis?

If you’re a Man U supporter, you should slap yourself for being a favorites-playing dweeb and head to the best soccer bar in town, the Scottish Arms. Raise a midday pint and high-five the guy who always wears the Tevez jersey after Rooney (the only player worth rooting for on Man U) leads the Red Devils to victory.

If you’re a Chelsea fan (or, if you just feel like rooting for the team that isn’t Man U, has the feel-good sports story of the year, and shares the nickname of a St. Louis franchise) check out Gooolll! the soccer store on Cherokee Street. They will be showing the game on the store’s flat screen and I happen to know that the owner, a huge Barcelona fan, is pulling for the Blues to exact revenge on the team that knocked her precious Catalans out last round.

In the meantime, enjoy the best Champions League plays of the year.
