Goold Moving to Movin' 101.1 -- Er, Sports Talk 101.1

Posted By on Thu, Dec 4, 2008 at 5:32 PM

Derrick Goold, a St. Louis Cardinals beat writer for the Post-Dispatch, will co-host a weekly show on St. Louis' new sports-talk radio station in the new year.

Goold's radio gig, The Hot Corner, will also feature co-host Brian Feldman. The show starts in February, and will air from 8 to 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Goold has appeared as a guest on KMOX's Sports on a Sunday Morning radio show since 2006.

Goold has never been at a loss for words during his appearances on TV -- Fox Sports Midwest's Cardinals postgame coverage -- so the verbosity should serve him well on the airwaves. That and the gravelly voice.

The Bonneville St. Louis Radio Group, whose parent company owns the radio station, made the announcement today. The station is currently playing Christmas music, apparently non-stop, but will switch to the sports-talk format January 1.

It will be the city's first FM sports-talk station and compete with the other all-sports stations in town: KSLG (1380 AM), KFNS (590 AM) and KSLG (1380 AM), as well as KMOX (1120 AM) and KTRS (550 AM.)

In addition to writing for the dead-tree edition of the Post, Goold writes the popular and insightful Birdland blog over at and the dgoold Twitter feed.
