Cardinals Working To Appease Fans, Season-Ticket Holders Wanting to Catch All-Star Game

Posted By on Fri, Feb 6, 2009 at 3:39 PM

So you wanna go to Major League Baseball's All-Star Game on July 14 at Busch Stadium? There appears to be a bit of confusion among fans (here and here) about how to snag tickets. So I called the Cardinals yesterday and got an answer. Sort of.

According to Joe Strohm, VP of ticket sales for the Cardinals, this is MLB's game. They essentially take over the stadium for all the week's events, and reserve about 14,000 seats right off the...uh...bat (e.g., for sponsors, players, to meet contractual obligations, etc.).

Strohm says that those with Cardinals season tickets will have an opportunity to get seats, but the exact locations of those seats haven't been determined. The club will contact season ticket holders in April with more details.

If you don't have season tickets but want to attend the game, Strohm says you'll be able to register to win tickets. Those details are still being worked out as well.

"It's a very complicated process," Strohm says. "We'll know more as we get closer to the game."

This will be the 80th All-Star Game. St. Louis has already hosted it four times. The last one was in 1966. It was 105 degrees.
