RE: La Clinica is (Not Quite) Dead (Yet)

This arrived in our inbox over the weekend:

It's just on life support.
  • It's just on life support.
In regard to your article La Clinica Is Dead, you mention the possibility of last minute fund-raising. My name is Katie Semkiu, and I am currently Chair of a student committee that focused on helping La Clinica, specifically with fund-raising.

I wanted to make you aware of a fundraiser that is taking place on April 16th at Saint Louis University in order to raise funds for La Clinica.

The fundraiser, La Cappella, is going to be held on SLU's campus in DuBourg 157, at 8 p.m. April 16th. It will feature several of the student a cappella groups, such as Astha A Cappella and the Bare Naked Statues, in addition to student dance groups. Admission is $6 at the door.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Katie Semkiu

Judging from the comments from La Clinica's Board of Directors, the organization has a steep hill to climb to get the funds necessary to keep their operation running-- they need at least $20,000 a month for operating expenses.

That said, there are a lot of people who are very passionate about La Clinica and understand how important and selfless their service is to the community. Those are characteristics that cannot be underestimated.

Stop by the SLU campus Thursday night and make a donation. It's for a (really) good cause.
