It's that time of year again, the sixth annual 48 Hour Film Project in St. Louis is kicking off tomorrow night at 6 p.m. at the Winifred Moore Auditorium at Webster University. That's where around seventy teams will be tasked with making a complete short film in a single weekend starting from scratch each assigned with a random character, prop and a line of dialogue.

Now, I've never actually participated in this event as a filmmaker. But I was a judge last year and I can tell you the results can range from the simply godawful to the down right amazingly creative. And I'm sure that even experienced filmmakers would find this competition a challenge. Here is one of my favorites from last years competition:

FYI: It's way too late for you to enter the competition this year. But, you can see all the films that actually complete the assignment when they are screened and judged at the Tivoli Theatre next week starting on June 9th and finishing up on Thursday the 11th. The best of the St. Louis 48HFP will be screened and the winners announced on Tuesday June 16th also at the Tivoli. Get the full schedule here. By the way, I'll be a judge this year again as well. Drop by and say hi.
