Planning to Catch Anna Kournikova This Weekend? Do Not Address Her in Yiddish

The St. Louis Aces tennis team serves up athlete-turned-starlet Anna Kournikova tomorrow for a match against the Springfield (Mo.) Lasers.

Those attending the event at Forest Park should be advised not to address Ms. (soon to Mrs.?) Kournikova in Yiddish and/or Hebrew. That's because the tennis player is not Jewish.

At least, not according to an article yesterday in the Washington Times. Kournikova was recently in the nation's capital playing for the Aces when a photographer commented "mazel tov" when she caught a glimpse of the tennis player's rumored engagement ring from singer Enrique Iglesias.

When apprised that "mazel tov" means congratulations in Yiddish/Hebrew, Kournikova reportedly pointed to her necklace and snapped back at the photographer: "I'm not Jewish. Can't you see my cross?"
