Police report receiving a phone call yesterday from a relative asking them to check on the well-being of two people living in the 800 block of Wall Street. Officers arrived at the residence at 7:26 p.m. to find Willie Murphy Ward, 66, and Michelle Renee Gowder, 40, dead. Both victims appeared to be beaten. Police believe they may have known their attacker(s) as the home did not appear to be in disarray.

Minutes after making that ghastly discovery, St. Louis police came upon a third homicide just eight short blocks away at the 8600 block of Church Road. Police reported to a call at 7:54 p.m. asking them to check the well-being of 46-year-old Michelle Meeks. When police arrived to the residence, they found Meeks stabbed to death. Again, the residence did not appear in disarray suggesting to police that Meeks may have known here killer(s)

At this point the police say there is no known connection between the two double homicide on Wall Street and the murder on Church Road and do not believe them to be related.

Anyone with information regarding the deaths is encouraged to call Crimestoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
