James Lamont Moore has pleaded guilty to charges of attempted distribution of heroin to inmates at the St. Louis City Justice Center.

Moore was one of three jailers indicted back in June in a plot to funnel drugs into the justice center.

Between January and March 2009, Moore received purported heroin from an individual outside of the Justice Center, along with cash payments, and secretly delivered the purported heroin to an inmate at the Justice Center.

Moore, 36, of St. Louis, pleaded guilty to one felony count of attempted distribution of heroin.  He appeared before United States District Judge Donald J. Stohr.  Sentencing has been set for October 30, 2009.

Co-defendants Marilyn Denise Brown, 54, St. Louis, was indicted in June by a federal grand jury on one felony count of attempted distribution of heroin; Peggy Lynn O'Neal, 48, St. Louis, was indicted on two felony counts of attempted distribution of heroin.  Both are facing trial.

If convicted, each count carries a maximum penalty of twenty years and/or fines up to $1 million.
